Day 1

  • Fly into Paro airport
  • Drive an hour to Thimphu (capital city of Bhutan)
  • Late afternoon, stroll around the town
  • Overnight in Thimphu

Day 2

  • Thimphu sightseeing: in the morning, visit Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten, Takin Reserve and National Textile Museum
  • In the afternoon, visit Simply Bhutan, Postal Museum, Weekly Market and Tashi Chhodzong
  • Overnight in Thimphu

Day 3

  • Drive to Gangtey valley (5 hours)
  • Stopover at Dochula pass
  • Visit Gangtey Goemba and Black necked crane center
  • Overnight in Gangtey

Day 4

  • Day hike around the Phobjikha valley
  • Overnight in Gangtey

Day 5

  • Drive to Bumthang, central Bhutan (5 hours)
  • On the way, visit Chendebji Chorten, Trongsa Dzongkha and Royal Heritage Museum
  • Continue the drive to Bumthang
  • Overnight in Bumthang

Day 6

  • Bumthang sightseeing: visit Jamba Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamzhing Lhakhang and Jakar Dzong
  • Overnight in Bumthang

Day 7

  • Day excursion to Tang valley
  • Visit Membar Tsho (burning lake), Tang Ugyen Chholing Museum and Tang village
  • Return to Bumthang
  • Overnight in Bumthang

Day 8

  • Drive back to Punakha, old capital of Bhutan (6 hours)
  • Visit Chhimi Lhakhang (temple of fertility)
  • Later, visit Punakha Dzong
  • Overnight in Punakha

Day 9

  • Drive back to Paro (4 hours)
  • Afternoon, visit National Museum, Rinpung Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhag
  • Overnight in Paro

Day 10

  • Day hike to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)
  • Overnight in Paro

Day 11

  • Fly out
  • Airport pickup/drop by a private vehicle
  • Standard accommodation in a three-star hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara including breakfast as per itinerary
  • Teahouse/guest house accommodation during the trek
  • All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during the trek as per Teahouse/guest house menu
  • All ground transportation on a private vehicle as per the itinerary
  • Welcome and farewell dinners
  • Guided city tour in Kathmandu by private vehicle
  • Entrance fees for sightseeing/monument visits
  • An experienced, English-speaking government-licensed guide and assistant guide
  • Porter service
  • Staff expenses including their salary, insurance, equipment, food, and accommodation
  • Down jacket and sleeping bag provided by Royal Himalayan Safari Tours (to be returned after trip completion)
